On April 15, Cosina announced the release of the Voigtländer APO-SKOPAR 75mm f/2.8 VM lens. The lens is priced at 99,000 Yen, will be available in both silver and black versions, and is scheduled to hit the market in May.
The lens utilizes the VM mount, which is compatible with Leica M-mount cameras, and is a manual focus prime lens. It achieves high image quality through an apochromatic (APO) design that reduces axial chromatic aberration to nearly zero. The newly designed optical structure consists of 7 elements in 6 groups, including four elements made of abnormal partial dispersion glass.
By employing a simple all-unit linear extension focusing system combined with a maximum aperture of f/2.8, the lens maintains a compact form factor. It measures just 44mm in length from the mount with a 43mm filter thread, making it comparable in size to a standard lens.
Additionally, the lens supports rangefinder coupling, allowing for precise focusing via optical rangefinders. It comes with a dedicated dome-shaped metal lens hood; its 3mm protrusion is specifically designed to avoid obstructing the viewfinder frame during shooting.
