In laboratories, fieldwork, or even on a home desk, limited space often becomes a real technical challenge. Specialized equipment, computers, monitors, biological samples, and lighting systems constantly compete for small working surfaces. In these situations, every accessory must justify the space it occupies. This creates the need for tools that are not only portable, but also robust, versatile, and efficient within the workflow. This becomes especially important in processes related to Capture-Based Scientific Imaging (CBSI), where stability and precision can directly affect image quality and documentation reliability. Over the past few weeks, I have been working with the Mini Desktop Tripod Load up to 6 KG S225A1+BH-25 from K&F Concept, a compact tripod that has significantly improved

my workflow both in laboratory environments and during fieldwork.

One of the aspects that impressed me the most was the balance between compact size and structural stability. Although designed as a desktop tripod, it supports up to 6 kg of load capacity, allowing it to handle relatively demanding configurations with confidence. In my case, I have used it with a 100 mm macro lens, extension tubes, and a micrometric focusing rail while maintaining excellent stability, even during macro photography sessions. In laboratory environments, it has been especially useful for integrating lighting systems or camera setups into reduced workspaces. When working with samples, instruments, or small analytical stations, a conventional tripod can quickly become more of an obstacle than a solution. Here, the compact format of the mini tripod allows cameras or lights to be positioned efficiently without interfering too much with the workflow.

I have also found it very useful for field photography. Thanks to its reduced size, it fits easily into a backpack, which becomes particularly valuable when carrying optical equipment, lighting gear, and collection materials at the same time. Additionally, its ability to extend up to approximately 50 cm allows for low-angle shots and perspectives that are often difficult to achieve using larger traditional tripods. This is especially useful for photographing insects, plant structures, or small organisms.

Another interesting aspect is its versatility. Depending on the situation, it can be used with cameras, lights, or smartphones. In my case, combined with the phone holder, it has also worked very well for online meetings, teleconferences, or as a support for lighting setups to improve scene exposure during classes and video calls. I have even paired it with the K&F Concept 12W RGB Pocket Video Light, a compact yet powerful light source for small macro photography setups or desktop illumination.

One of the most common situations I see among students and colleagues is the use of generic smartphone tripods. While they can solve basic stabilization needs, they quickly show limitations when working with heavier systems or more technical setups. The possibility of easily switching between a smartphone, an LED light, or a camera equipped with macro accessories gives this type of tool a much broader level of versatility and long-term usability.

Beyond being just a portable accessory, this type of solution helps build compact, stable, and adaptable setups for scientific documentation, macro photography, and technical content creation. In environments where space is limited, that flexibility becomes far more important than it may initially seem.
