According to Canon Rumors, there has been new progress on the two recently anticipated Canon EOS R6 Mark III and EOS R7 Mark II. It has been confirmed that the EOS R6 Mark III will be officially released around November 6th.
While many photography enthusiasts had previously hoped that the upgraded EOS R7 might debut in 2025, this will not happen. It has been confirmed that the release of the EOS R7's successor will be delayed until the first half of 2026. This means that 2026 will be a key year for Canon's APS-C camera lineup refresh.
This release cadence is consistent with Canon's strategy. Typically, Canon launches a series of full-frame models first, followed by an update to its APS-C lineup. Of course, this isn't a sure thing, and there are exceptions. This time, Canon is continuing its traditional approach of releasing multiple new products in late 2025, making it difficult to reserve release dates for other camera models.
Although Canon plans to hold a new product launch event in late November, it is expected to only unveil new lenses for the EOS R system. If we predict the release date for the EOS R7 Mark II, it won't be available until March 2026 at the earliest. Key features of the Canon EOS R7 Mark II:
The body is significantly larger than the EOS R7.
The EVF has a more prominent raised structure.
The joystick has returned to its normal position on the back of the camera.
The rear LCD screen supports vertical tilt adjustment (not Canon's usual side-flip mechanism).
It lacks a top-mounted LCD screen.
