On February 26th, Canon showcased a reference-exhibited all-in-one lens camera at CP+ 2026, designed to provide simulated operation and a unique shooting experience. This product originates from the ideas of "wanting to shoot directly through light" and "wanting to authentically record the sense of presence," employing a waist-level viewfinder with two lenses.
Instead of having the sensor directly photograph the subject, the camera uses a structure that captures the image projected onto a screen. Reportedly, the aim is to achieve a film-like texture through the color bleeding and blurring effects produced by the screen.
The release date is yet to be determined. Canon stated that while observing other companies' retro-inspired approaches, they are currently carefully exploring "which solution will best win over customers." The productization process may be accelerated based on feedback from attendees.
