Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR S II Released

On February 24th, Nikon announced the release of the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm F2.8 VR S II, a telephoto zoom lens compatible with full-frame/FX-format mirrorless cameras.

The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm F2.8 VR S II is a telephoto zoom lens in the NIKKOR Z S-Line series, covering a focal length range of 70mm to 200mm and featuring a constant maximum aperture of F2.8. Weighing approximately 998g, it is one of the lightest lenses in its class. Through improvements in optical structure and the design of moving parts in the internal mechanics, this product achieves a significant weight reduction of approximately 26% compared to the existing NIKKOR Z 70-200mm F2.8 VR S (released in August 2020), significantly improving flexibility for extended shooting and better supporting various creative methods such as handheld shooting and video recording with a stabilizer.

The autofocus drive system employs a Smooth High-Speed ​​Voice Coil Motor (SSVCM) for high-precision, smooth, and quiet focus control. The autofocus speed is improved by approximately 3.5 times compared to previous models, and autofocus tracking performance during zoom is improved by approximately 40%, enabling more accurate capture of dynamic subjects such as fast-moving athletes in sporting events. Furthermore, by optimizing the configuration of aspherical lens elements and adopting new SuperED and aspherical ED lens elements, chromatic aberration is effectively corrected while reducing the total number of lens elements, achieving a lightweight design and the high-level rendering performance of an S-Line lens. As a large-aperture telephoto zoom lens suitable for a wide range of shooting scenarios, the new Nikkor Z 70-200mm F2.8VRS II will help photographers capture decisive moments with greater confidence and ease, delivering more reliable photo and video performance.
