Olympus has released the new OM-3 Astro camera (now OM-SYSTEM), specifically designed for astrophotography. Based on the standard OM-3, this new camera enhances professional astrophotography capabilities, helping users capture beautiful nebulae and improving overall performance. An infrared cutoff sensor effectively blocks the capture of red and pink light emitted by nebulae, and a new color profile optimized for astrophotography, including improved imaging of red nebulae.

The camera features Star Autofocus, allowing users to lock onto stars automatically without tedious manual focus adjustments. It also features a Real-Time Composite mode for in-camera light painting without highlight clipping. The OM-3 includes a Night Vision mode that overlays a red filter on the user interface to protect low-light performance. High-resolution composite shooting modes include a handheld high-resolution mode, which combines 12 images into a single 50-megapixel file in-camera.
