According to Pentax Rumors, Ricoh will release the Pentax K-1 Mark II DSLR in October. The camera will feature a 61-megapixel, full-frame, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor (without a low-pass filter) and enhanced 5-axis image stabilization. The Pentax K-1 Mark II is reportedly expected to be priced around $2,899 and go on sale in late November or December.

Thanks to the new SAFOX14 focusing system, the K-1 Mark II achieves faster and more accurate focusing than ever before. Currently available information suggests that the K-1 Mark II features an increased number of phase detection points, improving low-light performance. Continuous AF tracking performance has also been improved, making it suitable for shooting dynamic subjects.

Like its predecessor, the K-1 Mark II's body is constructed of magnesium alloy for durability. Its dust- and weather-resistant construction ensures reliable use even in inclement weather. According to available information, it will be slightly lighter than its predecessor, weighing approximately 40 grams.

Looking at the SLR industry, Pentax will release a special K-3 Mark II Monochrome model in 2023. Canon has not released a new SLR since the EOS 850D and EOS-1DX Mark3 in 2020.

Nikon has also remained silent after releasing the D780 and D6 in 2020. Currently, Canon and Nikon have essentially abandoned the SLR system and are focusing on developing mirrorless systems. It's safe to say that Pentax has no rivals in the SLR market.
