Both the Nikon Z61 and Panasonic LUMIX SII use a 24-megapixel partially stacked sensor manufactured by Sony. Sony will be the first brand to release a higher-resolution version of this sensor technology. In contrast, the newly released Canon EOS R6 Mark III still uses a traditional non-stacked sensor. It is currently unclear whether Sony's new sensor shares the same architectural basis as the 24-megapixel versions used in Nikon and Panasonic models, or represents a new generation design.
