According to Leica Rumors, the Leica M11-V will not have the "rangefinder window," specifically the prism structure on the right front of the camera body used to generate the focus spot for rangefinders. It's important to note that this leak does not claim the "viewfinder window" used for actual framing will be removed. Furthermore, the source specifically notes a new "viewfinder dual-function toggle button" has been added to the frame selector lever. This may mean the M11-V will retain the optical viewfinder, but will use a new function button to activate the electronic viewfinder. The Leica M11-V may adopt a hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder solution similar to the Fujifilm X100 and X-Pro series. Analysts suggest that the lack of the rangefinder window typical of rangefinder cameras makes it impossible to achieve focus using overlay focus, meaning manual focus may be required when using the optical viewfinder.
