RICOH announce the development of the RICOH GR IV

Paris, May 22, 2025 - RICOH Imaging Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce the development of the RICOH GR IV - the latest model in the GR series of high-end compact cameras. Over its nearly three decades of history (since the launch of the film camera, the RICOH GR1 in 1996) and twenty years (since the launch of the first digital format, the GR DIGITAL in 2005), the GR series has maintained its fundamental philosophy of pursuing the fundamental values ​​of a camera: high image quality, fast response, and portability.

At the same time, the series has consistently incorporated changes and improvements required to meet emerging user needs. Because of this, GR series models are favored by many photographers, especially professionals and experienced amateurs. Currently under development, the RICOH GR IV inherits the basic GR series concept while also incorporating completely new components, including a newly designed lens, a new image sensor, and a new imaging engine to further enhance image quality. It also features more advanced communication functions and is compatible with new applications designed for smart devices to improve operability and functionality.

Based on this new GR IV, another GR series model with HDF (High Light Diffusion Filter) is also under development. RICOH

The GRIV is designed to be the ultimate snapshot camera in the history of the GR series, and is a completely new camera that will meet the needs and expectations of every photographer.

Note: The exterior design samples of the RICOH GR IV currently under development will be exhibited at GR SPACE in Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai starting on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Due to difficulties in procuring parts and components, the production and shipment of the RICOH GRI currently on the market are scheduled to end in July of this year. However, the production and marketing of the RICOH GR3x will continue for the time being.
