Will the Canon EOS R3 Mark II be released in the first week of February? Rumors about the new R3 surfaced earlier this month, with some suggesting that if it's not released before the CP+ show at the end of February, it will never be released. I still find it difficult to understand its positioning and target audience.

Will the EOS R3 Mark II be released in February? According to rumors, the development plan for the Canon EOS R3 Mark II will be announced in the first week of February 2026. This is consistent with the way Canon released the EOS R3 and EOS R1.

Why release a development announcement? This allows Canon to get the camera into the hands of professional photographers for use at major events like the Olympics. This way, Canon can obtain real-world user feedback without having to keep the product secret for features or firmware adjustments. While professionals who have the opportunity to use these cameras sign non-disclosure agreements to keep specific features confidential, we can still see their evaluations of the camera's performance during use.

EOS R3 Mark II Technical Specifications

I've heard it will feature a new 50-megapixel sensor. There's currently no information indicating whether Canon will use back-illuminated/stacked sensor technology. Another theory is that the EOS R1 will remain Canon's flagship action camera, while the EOS R3 Mark II will "focus on multimedia".
