Kodak has launched a new film camera—the Snapic A1. Currently, the only information available online is a 10-second promotional video.

First, let's look at the design. The exterior is modern and minimalist, with an overall shape very similar to the Ricoh R1 series. It's smaller than a mobile phone, and the casing appears to be made of plastic. The promotional video shows it in blue-gray and white, but multiple colors should be released later. The overall weight should be very light, making it highly portable.

On the upper right corner of the front, there's a built-in flash and lens. The "Snapic A1" logo below it seems to be directly painted on. However, there's a small light on the left side, possibly the flash photosensor.

The top LCD screen and forced rewind button are also present. The screen displays a moderate amount of information: it shows flash control functionality, likely the standard settings for point-and-shoot cameras: auto, forced on, forced off, red-eye reduction, and FiL-in. The battery indicator in the upper right corner suggests that this camera is unlikely to have a built-in lithium battery; perhaps Kodak suddenly discovered a stock of late 1990s point-and-shoot cameras and customized a batch of casings. There's also an icon for the focus range. The only thing unclear here is the animation icon for pressing the shutter button in the lower right corner. This camera is supposed to have fully automatic exposure and two-stage focus estimation, so there shouldn't be a half-press shutter action.

The lens is a 3-element glass lens, 25mm, with multiple coatings, which I suspect is the same as the lens in the Pentax 17.
