According to Canon Rumors (CR), one of Canon's new APS-C cameras, the EOS R7 Markll, will be released in the first half of 2026. We might even see them before the CP+ show in Japan at the end of February. Analysts point out that Canon will create even more buzz at CP+ 2026 than with last year's PowerShot V1 launch.
Currently, it's known that Canon will launch an APS-C camera equipped with a 40MP sensor, with a maximum video resolution of 8K/60p. Regarding the Canon EOS R7 Markll, CR believes that a 40MP sensor seems reasonable. For reference, the current EOS R7 has 32.5MP. Additionally, the number "40" will be a good selling point for the marketing department.
Furthermore, we will see Canon's first stacked APS-C image sensor. Whatever is released next, it will be a professional-grade APS-C sensor from Canon. If this sensor is to be used for the next 4-5 years, it would be unacceptable if it didn't move towards a stacked sensor design, as other manufacturers will certainly follow suit.
According to CR, Canon will also release a CinemaEOs series camera capable of shooting 8K/60p APS-C format camcorder, possibly a smaller sibling to the EOS C50. There have been previous rumors that Canon would release a model designed to compete with the Sony FX30.
