Sony FX3II (90% chance of release)
It should be released in 2026, according to reliable sources. It will use a completely new sensor. It could be the 33MP partially stacked sensor from the Sony A7M5, or it could be a completely new sensor with a global shutter. Both would be perfect for the FX31. If it uses the same A7M5 sensor, it could also be an "upgraded" version, offering more video recording options due to better body heat dissipation.
Sony A7r6 (80%)
The Sony A7r5 and A7r4 both use the same sensor, and I expect Sony to release the A7r6 with a completely new sensor by the end of 2026. This is likely a brand new 61MP partially stacked sensor, offering a one-stop improvement in sensitivity at low to medium ISO. After all, this camera aims for ultimate image quality, and the new partially stacked sensor has proven to deliver significant improvements in this area.
Sony RX100VII (70%)
The Sony RX100VI has been on the market for over six years, and in a rapidly growing market like fixed-lens compact cameras, it's struggling to compete with newer models. It would be unwise for Sony to ignore this, and I expect a new version in 2026. The new model will likely remove the retractable electronic viewfinder (which I personally consider its signature design). I hope it's not just a minor upgrade like the Sony RX1rII. We need better products!
Sony A6900 (50%)
Sony has somewhat neglected the APS-C market. The A6700 is a good camera, but I still think they could do better. There's a 50% chance the A6900 will be released this year, but considering Sony is likely to release several full-frame cameras in 2026, they'll probably wait another year, until 2027, before releasing the A6900.
Sony FX30U (40%)
The Sony FX30 uses the same sensor as the A6700. If Sony continues with this strategy, this camera will only be released after the new A6900.
Sony ZV-E1 (30%)
I have mixed feelings about this camera. A new model is definitely necessary.
Sony A7s4 (10%)
The A7s series is a flagship product for Sony and holds great significance for the company. However, considering the Sony FX2 offers similar features (built-in electronic viewfinder, cinematic shooting), and the Sony FX31 won't be available until 2026.
Sony A7cII and A7cR2 (5%)
Both cameras should be released in 2027. Before the new A7CRII arrives, we first need to see the A7r6 with the new sensor. Perhaps releasing the new A7cII at the end of 2026 would also make sense.
